Harry Potter

For work at the Daily Universe someone is writing a story on Harry Potter being put "into the vault."  Much like how Disney keeps their movies locked up and releases every so often as a special edition.  I was assigned to come up with an idea to illustrate the story...

Game Face -- BYU vs Utah

So the game didn't go quite as planned, but the pregame excitement was fun to see.  At least those who came to watch the game had their game faces on, even if BYU's football team didn't.

Folk Festival - Springville, Utah, July 28

I had the assignment to photograph the annual Folk Festival held in Springville, Utah.  Each number showcased singing or dancing from different cultures from around the world.  The performers travel from these countries and stay with host families here in Utah.  The Festival lasts a week, each night full of singing, dancing, and food.  The performances were great and some of the costumes were amazing.  Here are some of my favorite images from that night.

Provo Parade

Okay, when my wonderful wife said she wanted to go to the 4th of July Parade I wasn't overly excited.  So to make it worthwhile for me I told my boss that I'd cover it.  Well, all said and done, I was impressed.  America's Freedom Festival at Provo put on heck of a parade.  And my hat goes of to those who participated, both walking the streets and those watching.  The roads were packed by seven this morning, and the parade didn't start till nine.  Well done, Provo.

Stadium of Fire

Stadium of Fire is Provo's only way of getting big stars south of Salt Lake.  But somehow they are able to bring in some big names.  In high school I came and saw Alabama (I don't know if you can get much more country than that), last year Carrie Underwood came, and this year Brad Paisley owned the show.  David Archuleta and some local musicians also performed.  It was a great way to start off the 4th of July weekend celebrations.
